.......Thinking Question........
In the book I Am Third, Gale is affected in many ways from his injury, from being self-centered to striving for more. How do injuries affect our personality and attitude towards others and ourself?
A very good thinking question!!! Unfortunately, injuries are a possibility with any activity we are involved in. I broke my wrist as a junior in football....It was a major disappointment to me because I was, at the time, playing quite a bit....then suddenly I was unable to play for 6 weeks...it was hard going to practices and games watching my friends have fun....I felt like a bit of an outsider while I was out with an injury.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was injuried I had to sit out of sports for 9 months. It was really frusterating watching all of my friends play when I really wanted to. I thought I would be behind in volleyball and basketball and not be as good as everybody else. Now that I look back on it, it wasn't as bad as I thought.
ReplyDeleteI've never had a major injury. Besides jamming my finger or twisted my ankle. When i twisted my ankle that was probably the worst because i had to get my ankles taped, it just got annoying and caused a ton of blisters. It didn't affected my attitude towards the team but, my mom got the brunt of my frusterations.
ReplyDeleteI have never had a major injury. The worst thing that happened was a twisted ankle and maybe a jammed finger or two here and there. They don't sounds like much but they really hurt after a while. But other then that nothing majoy really happened to me.
ReplyDeleteInjuries are a hard thing to handle becasue they can happen at the most random times even when we aren't playing sports. I personally am lucky to have never had an injury that has sidelined me more than a half of a football. I have also have had friends that have had serious injuries and they know that with those injuries that you kind of get pushed to the way side and forgotten about.
ReplyDeleteI think injuries can change the way you look at that certain sport and others in that sport because you may not want to play that anymore or you might think that you were trying to much and got hurt. Other people might not think your a very good player or they might not include you anymore if you continue to play that sport once your better.
